Passion. Respect. Integrity. Dedication. Excellence.

About Us

Pride Muay Thai started out as a distant dream for club owner Wayne Pokornik. But in the spring of 2012 and with the support and encouragement of his wife Charleen, his dream became a reality.

Unpredicted circumstances pushed the husband and wife team to find a place to train Wayne for one of his competitions. This led them to renting a small space in the back of a building in their home neighborhood of Transcona. After only 2 years in the space, the couple re-located their dojo to the industrial area of North Transcona, where they have been ever since.

Wayne's martial arts training started at a young age, but it wasn't until his early 20's that he found his passion for muay thai. With over 25 amateur bouts in the ring, he earned the Western Canadian Middleweight Title in 2012.

Charleen owns and primarily manages the club and students, but also assists and instructs some classes. Charleen has also competed and is the 2014 TBA-SA Muay Thai Classic Senior Heavyweight Champion.

One mission for the duo is making sure their members feel like they are a part of a family and not just a number at the gym. Hence, the name and acronym. And what makes Pride Muay Thai unique from the ordinary gym.
